So Surprise

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

ok, so this week’s ’scope starts out great, but then it gets bogged down in what i like to call ‘big word syndrome.’  this is a common mistake writers often make when they are reviewing an album or a new movie.  for whatever reason, instead of just simply telling you whether they like the music and why, they are compelled to impress you with their vast vocabulary (and the simplicity of your own).

Tarot16timeless_3 "’Ninety-nine percent of the world is asleep," Meg Ryan’s character tells Tom Hanks’ character in the film, Joe Versus the Volcano.  ‘The one percent that is awake remains in a constant state of amazement.’  I nominate you Aquarians to be the ringleaders of that one percent in the coming week.  The astrological omens suggest you will be shocked awake (but in a friendly way!) by a minor miracle, whereupon you will be visited by a steady surge of beguiling ephemera, curious teachings, and changes that inspire quiet awe, not to mention sudden deliverances from boring evils and enigmatic delights generated by unseen presences.’

oh come on, "beguiling ephemera"?  give me a break.  what the hell is the point of the second half of this ’scope?  the first half is great, almost inspiring, really.  can you imagine me as some kind of enlightened monk leading the uninspired masses through life?  that would be one crazy world.

thanks for reading.

Why Believe

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005
i gotta say that im a huge fan of the haiku.  its just a great way to communicate and share things in a wonderfully humorous fashion, but im just not as good at writing them as i would like to think.  whenever i send one out to my friends, the haiku responses i get are always ten times better.  here is the most recent brilliant haiku that i received from my frousin, robert.  it really seems to fit how im feeling, except for the last line.  i plan on doing much more flinging…
summer days flinging
biking, hiking, eating out
the last fling was flunged
first snow of the year hit the upper peaks last week.  it was pretty cool seeing snow on mt evans so early.  of course, its gone now, but just seeing it gives me hope that there will be a lot following soon.  got me excited about the boarding possibilities that are coming soon on my new board.  pictures coming, i promise.
also broke out the first hoodie of the season, and i was almost as excited about that as i was about the first snow.  i live in the hoodie.
leaves are changing.  some trees look like they are just dry, but some are definitely turning yellow.  I love it.

Unicycle Silencer

back again.  this time for a quickie…

heres this week’s ’scopes

Tarot0intent_1 "A few years ago, the CEO of Ford Motors apologized for making SUVs.  William Ford even referred to the Excursion, one of his company’s huge pollution generators, as the ‘Ford Valdez,’ associating it with the ship that despoiled the Alaskan environment with an oil spill back in 1989.  And yet that didn’t stop Ford from continuing to manufacture gas-guzzlers.  He saw the error of his ways but didn’t correct it.  Make him your anti-role model in the coming days,  Aquarius.  After you realize your mistakes or excess, be gleefully uninhibited about fixing it and making amends."

to tell you the truth, i dont really understand this one at all.  i never make mistakes, so what could i possibly do to make amends?

random comments for a hump day, that isnt…

man, i hate not posting for this long, too many thoughts that have just vacated my mind and gone off into the vacuum of space never to be claimed by me again.  and all of you will never hear them.

this woman is a cheater.  if you see her, tell her you know what she did.Cheater sorry, i dont have a better picture.  all i had to work with at the time was my phone.

new stuff all over the place.  new board and bindings (pictures coming soon), new girlfriend (pictures coming soon), new music, new weather… you name it.

way behind on my music listening posts, but ill do better, i promise.  the stack of cds on my floor that needs to be posted is getting to tall for just one stack.  gonna throw a bunch on there today.

finally found out what $3/gallon really meant the other day when it cost me 45 bucks to fill up my truck.  damn, thats practically 50 dollars!  i remember just a few years ago when gas was 88 cents per gallon and i filled up for less than a 20.  heard a rumor that toyota is talking about converting their entire fleet to hybrids.  i may be looking into a new car…

i hate it when you go see a show and the band does a perfect recreation of their studio recordings.  if i wanted to hear that, i would have saved 12 bucks and just listened to the cd at home.  anyway, we saw minus the bear on sunday, and they did just that.  perfect recording recreation along with all of (read - none of) the energy to engage the crowd.  now i really dont like it when a band talks and talks and talks, but shit, youve got to at least pretend that theres an audience there and try to interact with them.  fortunately, the 3 bands before them, made up for their lack of enthusiasm.  thunderbirds are now! was awesome again.  by the way, their new album justamustache is in the front running for my album of the year.  these arms are snakes were even pretty darn good, even though the vocalist wasnt something i was really enjoying.

new blog from my friend, brian, called core samples.  you should check it out from time to time.  not only is he one of my best friends, but he is one of the most creative people i know, and when he shares his thoughts, i smile.

i hate having to work saturdays, especially for something that i was "volunteered" for.  if you dont want me to resent you, then dont fuck with my weekends.

Termites

Thursday, September 1st, 2005

the sun is getting lower in the sky these days, and believe it or not, i actually kinda like it.  days are getting short, thats not a plus, but the angle of the sun on everything really makes me feel good this time of year.  i remember it very strongly last year while i was living here working graveyard, and i remember it even more vividly the august and september before that while i was in santa rosa.  theres a sense of urgency that it creates and helps me to get out and enjoy the air, but with my attitude it keeps me going outside far beyond the time when everyone else would be inside worried about the fact that winter is coming right around the corner.

another one of those "broke" posts.  this was supposed to go up last week, but i lost half of it due to stupidity again.  pop-up blockers can be a good thing, but they also can be a pisser when they get in the way.

ive got a site to share.  whoever natalie dee is, she has got a terrifically warped mind.  check out her drawings, they are fucking hilarious.  im an especially big fan of the cupcake.

so, lets go to the ’scope this week…

Tarot22rebirth_2 "When your plane takes off and the flight attendants give you their lecture on what to do in case of emergency, they often remind you that "your nearest exit may be behind you." That’s good advice for you to keep in mind during the coming week, Aquarius. I don’t mean to imply that you’ll be facing some literal danger that will require you to make a quick escape. What I do suggest is that you remove yourself, at least temporarily, from a certain process that’s barreling full-speed ahead. The best way to do it is to go backward, into the past, or in reverse."

this would be an easy one if it were referring to the newfound relationship that ive found myself creating, but its not.  work, maybe.  are the stars telling me that i need to hold off and not go out and buy $500 worth of tools right away?  maybe, but that doesnt make much sense either.  its too easy to come back to the girlfriend, but i can just tell thats not it.  oh well…

by the way, because of the overwhelming demand that ive been getting here online, i think that its best that i satisfy all of my fans and at least let you know that her name is brenda.

thanks for listening.
